Lake Red C

An organic color pigment used in printing inks. Lake Red C is used to refec to one of three types related pigment (version of CI Pigment Red 53), most commonly the pigment containg barium salt. It is a yellowish red with a blue undertone possessing good chemical resistance properties, but only moderate lightfastness. As it contains barium, it is also toxic, it is the most commonly used red organic pigment, as it brightness and color strength work in conjunction with its low cost. (See also Organic Color Pigment).
