A clear or colored resin-based solution, either added to a printing ink or applied as a coating to the surface of a printer piece, that froms a thin film upon evaporation of the solvent in which it is dissolved. Lacquer is used to afford a printer piece protection, or to impart a high level of gloss to the ink or to the printer sheet as a whole.
